Why does the receptionist need to know what's wrong with me?

When you call us...

When you call the surgery our Admin Team will ask for some information about the reason for your call. This is so we can assess how best to deal with your call, who is best to deal with your issue and what time frame is appropriate.

If your call is something which needs to be dealt with that day then our Duty Doctor will call you back. This may not be the doctor you usually attend. 

If you want a specific doctor of it is a routine matter you are likely to wait some time, most likely at least a week.

This is normal procedure.

Please be patient and courteous with our Admin Team. They will always do their best to help you whilst following the wishes of the clinical team.

GP Appointments

The doctors only  have a limited amount of time to see each patient and respectfully ask that you not to attend with a long list of problems that you would like to discuss in one consultation.  They may ask you to attend at another time if you have a list of 2 or more medical issues that you want to discuss.

The appointment you are given is for you. Please do not expect the doctor to also have a consultation about other members of your family in one allocated appointment.  If you wish to consult about another member of your family then please ask for 2 appointments and book one in the name of that person so the doctor can have the appropriate records prepared.

Emergencies will always take priority.
