Prescriptions

The ways to order repeat prescriptions are:

• using the GP online system via the link at the top of this page
• written requests may be left at reception. To avoid mistakes, please state clearly the name of the medicine you need.
• by ticking the relevant names of the required medication on the right hand side of the prescription form and handing that in to reception.

We do not take repeat prescription requests over the phone or email.

You can usually collect your prescription from the pharmacy 3 to 5 working days after you have ordered it.

You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.

You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:

• on the website where you order repeat prescriptions
• at the practice
• at any pharmacy that accepts repeat prescriptions

Unfortunately, as with all things, technology doesn't always work seamlessly. Should you find yourself with a problem in setting up your online prescription account please check out the troubleshooting points below that may help:

• To set up a new online prescription account we would recommend that you use a tablet, laptop or PC. Using a mobile phone can cause some user sign-ups to fail.
• Please do not keep our prescription login page saved on your browser, bookmark or history as it does need to refresh.
• Please make sure to tick that you accept the terms and conditions on sign up.
• Our website will email you a 'registration activation'. If you subscribe to a spam blocker service or use some other method of filtering your email you must ensure that the address: prescription@mysurgerywebsite.co.uk is added to your list of trusted addresses. Please also check your spam / junk folder for the initial activation email.

Once you receive the email you can either use the link provided to confirm your account or you can enter the activation key manually.

If you are still unable to create an online account please contact reception with your details and we will investigate the issue with our website provider.

Should you lock yourself out of your account and cannot use the forgotten password link please contact reception with your details and our Business Manager can force a password reset which our Admin Team will then call you back to discuss.

If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.

The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.

If you have a repeat prescription, we may ask you to come in for a regular review. We will be in touch when you need to come in for a review.

Take it to the pharmacy you got it from or bring it in to the surgery. Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.

As qualified healthcare professionals, pharmacists can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:

• coughs
• colds
• sore throats
• tummy trouble
• aches and pains

They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.

Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.

Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.
